Svalbard Cabaret was an unconventional twist on the cabaret, where we would take over an entire building and make one-off site-specific performances featuring collaborations between international and loca artists, bringing together amazing crews of all sorts and creating a whole show in just a few days.
Svalbard Company was founded in 2014 by Santiago Ruiz, Simon Wiborn, Tom Brand, and Benjamin Smith, and they were later joined by Adrip in 2018. The company was built as a platform to showcase their collective productions and research.
Based in Stockholm but not contained by it, Svalbard Company's raw and explosive style has found a deeply international audience, having taken their productions to over 28 countries in 4 continents. Their work seems to evade the pigeonholes of nationality, genre, or form, and in the past been described as a cult.
Their approach is a commitment to open-mindedness on the stage and a perseverance to site-specific spontaneity within their performances. Even if the choreography is set, this company never performs the same show twice, and perhaps it is this adaptability that accounts for their international accessibility.
